Anna (she/her) is our worldbuilding goddess. Her degrees in biology and marine biology have given her an extensive understanding of environments, species, niches, and circles of life. She has unparalleled skill at helping writers get the details of their complex, immersive alien worlds onto the page, without excessive info dumping. Anna has a decade of editing experience transforming complex information into concise and engaging text for writers in multiple fields. This has allowed her to hone a broad range of editing skills, from line editing to developmental editing to the “final polish” copy edit. She has a keen eye for details in story elements like character arcs and pacing as well as on the line level for grammatical and spelling errors.

Anna is passionate about educating authors to help them improve their craft. She is a regular host on Writers Lunch and has taught intensive courses for authors at Writespace Houston including an introduction to genre fiction, worldbuilding like a pro, tech and magic systems, reverse outlining, and getting through all the phases of the writing process that come after the first draft. She has been a literature track panelist and writing workshop leader at Comicpalooza since 2023.

When she’s not editing or educating authors, Anna writes stories that deal with disillusionment with institutions and characters who sometimes become the same kind of monster they were trying to rebel against. You can find her work in Analog Science Fiction and Fact, EscapePod, and several small press anthologies. Anna also has many hobbies that occupy her free time, including painting miniatures, table top role playing games, and hiking. An award-winning quilter, Anna also enjoys other fiber arts such as crochet, embroidery, and cross-stitch.
